Our Foundation

Originally known as Dexter Faith Fellowship, our first service was held on September 13th, 1981. Thirty five Christians attended this sermon, where Pastors Paul and Cheryl Gmitter preached on the story of David and Goliath.

Growth

By committing to the church’s original mission of “building a firm family in the faith” and through God’s calling, the church pastors, elders and members witnessed a consistent growth of the church body. There was especially strong growth in the number of youth in attendance, so in 1987 a second addition to the original building was completed. This wing created much-needed space for youth ministries.

Prayers and Confirmation

The year 1996 marked a cornerstone of faith within the ACF church family. Church members, elders and pastors stepped out in faith to glorify God. A plan was assembled by the church body to build a new church home debt-free. The church raised funds to purchase 12.5 acres across from the Watertown International Airport. This land is today the site of Airport Christian Fellowship. Though many Christians and guests appreciate the new building every day, not everyone may fully realize the extensive amount of prayers, planning and hard work that has been sown to make our home the loving place that it is today.

Built on the Word of God

With the land purchase finalized, ground cleared and site work completed, church members and volunteers eagerly broke ground in July of 2002. Relying on God’s Word, the crews placed Bibles into the foundation as concrete was poured into the forms that created the footers that support the church walls today.
